Nurofen For Children Strawberry Liquid is designed to relieve the symptoms of colds and flu in children. It also helps lower temperatures and reduce pain.  

How Nurofen For Children Strawberry Liquid works

Nurofen For Children Strawberry Liquid contains ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by relieving pain and helping to ease the symptoms of colds and flu.

Ibuprofen also reduces fever. 

 

Directions

Always take Nurofen For Children Strawberry Liquid exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / pharmacist has told you. 

Children between 3-6 months old: 1 x 2.5ml should be given up to 3 times a day. If your child is in this age range, they must only be given the product for 24 hours.

Children between 6-12 months old: 1 x 2.5ml should be given up to 4 times a day.

Children between 1-3 years old: 1 x 5ml should be given up to 3 times a day. 

Children between 4-6 years old: 1 x 7.5ml should be given up to 3 times a day.

Children between 7-9 years old: 1 x 10ml should be given up to 3 times a day.

Do not give more than the recommended daily amount.

 

Side effects

Like all medicines, Nurofen For Children Strawberry Liquid may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects may include: 

  • Stomach irritation 
  • Indigestion 
  • Heartburn

 

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

 

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

 

Warnings

Nurofen For Children Strawberry Liquid may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not give this medicine to your child if they are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

  • They have a stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding
  • They have severe kidney, liver or heart failure
  • They have problems coping with fructose/fruit sugar

 

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving your child this medicine if: 

  • They have high blood pressure or heart problems
  • They have had a stroke 
  • They have diabetes
  • They have high cholesterol 
  • They have asthma or any other allergic lung disease
  • They have liver, kidney or bowel problems 
  • They are dehydrated
  • They have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
  • They have a chronic inflammatory bowel disease 
  • They have an infection
  • They have chicken pox 

 

Using/taking other medicines

If your child is taking or has recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before giving them this product.

You must tell your healthcare provider if your child is taking the following medicine:

 

  • Other medicines containing ibuprofen or NSAIDs
  • Low dose aspirin 
  • Diuretics 
  • Anticoagulants e.g. warfarin
  • Lithium for mood disorders
  • Methotrexate for psoriasis, arthritis and types of cancer
  • Zidovudine for HIV
  • Corticosteroids
  • Cardiac glycosides for heart problems 
  • Ciclosporin or tacrolimus to prevent organ rejection after a transplant 
  • Quinolone antibiotics 
  • Antiplatelet drugs e.g. dipyridamole or clopidogrel 

 

Age restrictions 

This product is not suitable for babies under 3 months old.

 

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
