How Movicol Constipation Relief - 30 Chocolate Powder Sachets work

Movicol Constipation Relief contains the active ingredient macrogol 3350. Macrogol 3350 softens the stool, making bowel movements easier.  

Directions

Always take Movicol Constipation Relief - 30 Chocolate Powder Sachets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / pharmacist has told you. 

Dissolve each sachet in 125ml of water. 

Take 1 sachet as required between 1-3 times a day. 

If you are using the sachets for a longer period of time, take up to 2 sachets a day.

Side effects

Movicol Constipation Relief - 30 Chocolate Powder Sachets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

• Diarrhoea 
• Indigestion 
• Stomach pain 
• Bloating and wind 
• Nausea 
• Vomiting 
• A sore anus

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

Warnings

Movicol Constipation Relief - 30 Chocolate Powder Sachets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if: 

• You have had a hole or breakage in the wall of your intestine
• You have ever had a blockage or paralysis in your intestines 
• You have ulcerative colitis 
• You have Crohn's disease 
• You have toxic megacolon 
• You need to add thickener to liquids to help you swallow them
• You are being treated for heart failure or an irregular heartbeat 
• You have been told that you need to follow a low-sodium diet

Using/taking other medicines

Talk to your GP or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription. 

Age restrictions 

This product is not suitable for children under 12 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new product. 

Food and drink

Avoid mixing this product with starch-based food thickeners. 

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging.
