How can Germoloids Cream provide relief from haemorrhoids?

Germoloids Cream contains two active ingredients:

  • Zinc oxide
  • Lidocaine

Zinc oxide has astringent properties, which means that it causes contractions when applied to the skin. This action can help to shrink swelling caused by haemorrhoids. It also helps to soothe and protect the anal area from damage and has mild antiseptic properties. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic which helps to soothe the pain, swelling and irritation caused by haemorrhoids and relieve itching. The cream base of this treatment can help when passing stools and reduce straining during bowel movement.

How to use this product

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before applying the treatment. Applying Germaloid Cream is simple and can help to provide relief in just a few simple steps:

  • Before using this product for the first time, ensure that the tube seal is not broken
  • Remove the seal
  • If using this product for external haemorrhoids, simply apply the cream directly to the affected area.
  • If using for internal haemorrhoids screw the applicator nozzle onto the tube and smear some of the cream on the outside of the nozzle to ease application, before carefully inserting the applicator into the opening of the anus. Gently squeeze the tube whilst slowly withdrawing the nozzle to that the cream moves gently up the anus.
  • Replace the cap firmly after use and always keep the tube away from children.

Apply the cream to the affected area at least twice a day with a minimum of 3-4 hours between applications. Further applications can be made at any time of the day and are particularly recommended after a bowel movement. Do NOT use the cream more than 4 times in any 24 hour period.

Lifestyle changes to help relieve symptoms

As well as using Germoloids Cream there are many lifestyle changes you can make to help ease symptoms of haemorrhoids including:

  • Including a high amount of fibre in your diet
  • Drinking plenty of fluids
  • Go to the toilet immediately when you need to pass stools and try to avoid straining during bowel movements
  • Exercise regularly, as it can help to stimulate regular bowel movement
