How Effercitrate For Cystitis - 12 Effervescent Tablets works

Effercitrate For Cystitis - 12 Effervescent Tablets work by making the urine in the bladder alkaline. They also reduce irritation caused to the bladder lining.

Directions

Always take Effercitrate For Cystitis - 12 Effervescent Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / pharmacist has told you. 

Take two tablets that have been dissolved in a glass of water. You can take this dosage up to 3 times a day.

Place the tablets in water and allow them to dissolve. The tablets will dissolve more quickly in warm water when stirred.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Effercitrate For Cystitis - 12 Effervescent Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

• An increased production of urine
• An upset stomach

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings

Effercitrate For Cystitis - 12 Effervescent Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

• You have high levels of potassium in your blood
• You have kidney disease 
• You have heart disease
• You have an irregular heartbeat
• You have Addison's disease
• You have dark or cloudy urine or you are dehydrated

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have high blood pressure.

Using/taking other medicines

If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.

You must tell a healthcare professional if you are taking:

• Other medications containing potassium
• Medicines that make you retain potassium which make you pass water (water tablets/diuretics) e.g. amiloride and triamterene
• Aldosterone antagonists e.g. spironolactone 
• Medicines that increase potassium levels e.g. ACE inhibitors, aliskiren, losartan, cyclosporine and tacrolimus 
• Nitrofurazone or methenamine
• Aspirin
• Medicines to help ease breathing e.g. salbutamol, ephedrine, phenylephrine
• Stimulants e.g. amphetamines
• Barbiturates e.g. phenobarbital
• Certain antibiotics e.g. tetracycline 
• Digitalis for heart failure

Age restrictions 

This product is not suitable for children under 6 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
