Cetirizine 10mg is a medication designed to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and other allergies.
It’s a non-drowsy antihistamine, making it the ideal choice for anyone who wants to ease their symptoms without feeling tired.

How Cetirizine 10mg works
Cetirizine 10mg contains the active ingredient cetirizine hydrochloride/dihydrochloride. It works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance found in your body that is created when you come into contact with something you’re allergic to.

Directions
Always take Cetirizine 10mg exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / pharmacist has told you.
For children aged 6-12 years old: Give your child half a tablet (5mg) twice a day.
For children over 12 years old and adults: Take 1 tablet (10mg) daily.
For patients with moderate renal impairment: It is recommended that you take 5mg once a day. You must contact your prescriber for advice before taking this medication.

Side effects
Like all medicines, Cetirizine 10mg may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
Fatigue
Dry mouth
Nausea
Diarrhoea
Dizziness
Headaches
Sleepiness
Sore throat
Swelling and irritation inside the nose

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings
Cetirizine 10mg may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have severe kidney disease.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
You have problems passing urine
You have epilepsy
You have renal insufficiency
This medication may affect the results of an allergy test. You must ask your doctor if you should stop taking it several days before your test.
These tablets contain lactose. If you are intolerant to certain sugars, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.

Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist for advice.

Age restrictions
Cetirizine 10mg is not suitable for children under 6 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol whilst you are taking this medication.

Driving and operating machinery
This medication can cause dizziness. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.

Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
