Benylin Infant Cough Syrup is a treatment designed to help your child with dry, tickly cough symptoms.
How Benylin Infant Cough Syrup works
Benylin Infant Cough Syrup contains the active ingredient glycerol. Glycerol is a lubricant that works by soothing the throat and reducing the effects of a cough.
Directions
Always take Benylin Infant Cough Syrup exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / pharmacist has told you.
Children between 3 months-1 year old: 1 x 5ml spoonful should be given 3-4 times a day.
Children between 1-5 years old: 2 x 5ml spoonfuls should be given 3-4 times a day.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Benylin Infant Cough Syrup may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. There are no known reported side effects of this medicine.If your child experiences any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using theMHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Benylin Infant Cough Syrup may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not give this medicine to your child if they are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving Benylin Infant Cough Syrup to your child if they have an intolerance to certain sugars or are diabetic.
Using/taking other medicines
If your child is taking or has recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before giving them Benylin Cough Syrup.
Age restrictions
This product is not suitable for babies under 3 months old.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
Important information
This product is a medicine; make sure to speak to your doctor or pharmacist before your child takes this product if they have an underlying medical problem or are taking any other medicine or complementary therapy.
