Aspirin 75mg - 28 Gastro-Resistant Tablets is a medication used to help prevent further heart attacks and strokes after coronary artery bypass surgery.

How Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets works
Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets belong to a group of medicines called antiplatelet agents. Antiplatelet agents help to prevent your blood cells from sticking together and forming a blood clot.

Directions
Always take Aspirin Gastro-Resistant Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / pharmacist has told you.
This tablet should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablets.
The normal dose for prevention of cardiovascular disease is 75 mg once daily. Please discuss this with your GP or specialist.

Side effects
Like all medicines, Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
Heartburn
Increased tendency for bleeding
Runny nose
Hives
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings
Aspirin 75mg - 28 Gastro-Resistant Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have any bleeding disorders or a stomach ulcer.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
You have other kidney, liver or heart problems
You have high blood pressure
You are dehydrated
You have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
You are elderly
You have ever had problems with your stomach or small intestine
You have heavy menstrual periods
You have ever had gout

Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any other medication including medication not obtained through a prescription, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not take this medication if you have taken mifepristone (to terminate pregnancy) in the last 8-12 days.
Some medications may be affected by Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets including medication for:
Thinning of the blood/prevention of clots (e.g. warfarin, heparin)
Preventing organ rejection after transplantation and treating acute organ rejection e.g. (ciclosporin, tacrolimus)

High blood pressure (e.g. atenolol, diuretics and ACE-inhibitors)
Pain and inflammation (e.g. anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen or steroids)
Cancer or rheumatoid arthritis (e.g. methotrexate)
Oral medicines for diabetes (e.g. glibenclamide)
Epilepsy (e.g. phenytoin, sodium valproate)
Gout (e.g. probenecid)
Corticosteroids (e.g. prednisolone, hydrocortisone)
Sulfonamide antibiotics (e.g. trimethoprim)
Depression
Severe mental issues (e.g. lithium)
Glaucoma (e.g. acetazolamide)

Age restrictions
This medication is not suitable for children under 16 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not take this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

Food and drink
This medicine contains lactose.

Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
